Essayshark is amongst the oldest online writing companies around. While many people are just finding out about it, I had my first experience with the company in 2012. The company has undergone several changes and adjustments, improving customer experience and service delivery. Although it faced innumerable challenges in the earlier years, the improvements witnessed over the last ten years have earned it a spot amongst the best companies in the online writing industry. I know that my long history with the company, from college through masters and now PhD, may cloud my judgment or make me more lenient to it. However, I intend to provide a balanced and impartial review based on my experiences with
Essayshark.com this year.
I want to review the company based on 10 metrics: pricing and discounts, paper customization, confidentiality, payment process, plagiarism, timeliness, questionable “experts,” support team’s response, refund policy, and mobile-friendly interface.
Pricing and discounts
Essayshark is a bidding-based company, which means that writers place their bids on new orders and customers select writers with the most suitable offers. Bids are highly variable, ranging from $13 to $35 for one page with a seven days deadline. The writer rating system on the site allows writers with many return customers and higher ratings to charge more for their services, while new writers with low ratings tend to charge lower prices.
The main challenge with the bidding system is that it can be misleading. Writers who place higher bids are not necessarily the best, and those who place lower bids are by no means, poor writers. However, our society has conditioned us to believe that cheap is expensive, making it hard for customers to trust writers who place low bids. I have had unique experiences working with writers who charge moderate to low prices. If you’re new to the website, try selecting different writers until you get the perfect match. Based on the other Essayshark reviews I have read, the search for an ideal writer takes less than two orders.
There are no discounts offered. However, there is always a writer offering low prices for price-sensitive customers.
New meaning to paper customization
The greatest challenge with many online writing companies is paper customization. Students often get papers that do not fit their profiles. For example, an international ESL student getting an article with a native speaker’s level of writing or another student getting a paper that does not match their context, i.e., their state, religion, gender etc.
In one of my papers, I remember a writer claiming that education in Norway was expensive. The statement was not just inaccurate but also misleading. We don’t pay for higher education here. If I didn’t correct the claim, it would have sent a wrong signal to my professor. Another one talked about Norway lagging in green energy. No need to say more.
While these are just a few examples, they show how writers can easily provide solid papers that do not fit specific contexts. At essayshark, emphasis is put on paper customization, ensuring that customers get what they deserve. My writer always ensures that her claims are relevant and appropriate.
Great writers even model their papers to sound exactly like yours. After just a few orders, it becomes difficult to tell your writings apart from theirs. The consistency ensures that you get high grades.
Note: you should provide some background information to your writer if you don’t want to waste time with unnecessary back and forth.
Flexible order placement procedure
The process of order placement can be frustrating at times. Some companies require you to provide tons of information before placing your order. While the information is often used to provide customers with personalized services, it makes the order placement experience unpleasant.
I skip websites that require too much information before providing a service. Essayshark is quite different. On your first visit to the site, only your email and a password are required.
The order placement follows a simple procedure. After selecting the type of service you require, the number of pages, and the deadline, you are immediately sent to the payment page to complete your order.
Is Essayshark writing company a Scam?
Treading the murky waters of the internet can be risky at times. It is hard to know who to trust, especially in the online writing industry. Many people have been scammed, and others blackmailed with significant consequences. Essayshark is among the few legit companies you can trust with your essays with minimal risks. Besides being in the industry for over a decade, it has invested heavily in customer security and confidentiality. The site uses the latest encryption technology to keep your data safe.
While getting writers who are not qualified to complete complex orders is possible, most writers are competent and deliver high-quality works. If your paper matters to you, then you should take time and select a writer carefully.
One writer failed to revise my work nor answer my messages. However, the incident took place several years ago. Essayshark has since blocked such accounts, leaving only committed and competent writers on their database.
Timeliness
Most students order essays online because they are too busy and overwhelmed by everyday life issues. Therefore, timeliness is critical. I have to admit that I have had a mixed experience with punctuality on the platform. My orders have been delivered late in a few incidents. In one case, my order was two days late.
I beat the lateness trap by setting my deadlines ahead by at least three days. This works 99% of the time. Even the most trusted writer will occasionally experience something personal that leads to delays.
Please use the highest-ranked writers for shorter deadlines if you don’t have a trusted writer. You’ll undoubtedly pay more, but you will most likely get your paper on time.
Plagiarism
Plagiarism can be costly. Students have been suspended, fined, or expelled from universities for plagiarism. For example, in my college, the penalty for plagiarism ranges from two years’ suspension to expulsion, depending on the graveness of the offense.
I am glad I have not had any issues with plagiarism on the platform. The only time I came close was when a writer used a picture downloaded from the internet without acknowledging it. My professor noted it but took no exception.
Note: Please watch out for contextual plagiarism. Most writers can beat ordinary plagiarism detection software such as SafeAssign and Turnitin. However, if you examine the papers more carefully, you’ll realize that they are based on other past papers – context-based plagiarism, a serious offense at the PhD level.
If you detect plagiarism in your work, Essayshark allows you to request unlimited free revisions.
They also warn writers involved in plagiarism but ban repeat offenders from the platform.
Support team’s response
This has been the company’s Achilles heel. In the earlier years, there was no response at all from the support team. It seemed as though everything was on a free roll. If you were lucky to get a response, it came back after days, sometimes weeks! However, things have become much better. The support team is always on standby, ready to help.
Some general laxity still exists, and order disputes still take a long time to resolve.
The support team will likely call you to respond to writers in case they need additional information. This is truly helpful and minimizes waiting time.
Refund policy
The only thing worse than getting a lousy paper is failing to get a refund. Many online writing companies have a no-refund policy, making it impossible to reclaim your funds in case of a bad experience. I have read a few essayshark reviews claiming a lack of refund from the company. However, I have no such experience. I have ordered more than 32 papers from the company. The experience has been largely positive, with only three essays failing to meet my expectations. I know the company offers refunds for plagiarism and other grave writing mistakes considered on a case-to-case basis.
Confidentiality
I believe in the company’s commitment to confidential customer data. After more than a decade, I have not seen any unwanted traffic on my phone or email. I read one customer’s experience with another online essay writing service that alarmed me. The customer claimed that her phone number and email were leaked to writers who started spamming her phone and email with messages offering cheap writing services. Some of the writers even threatened to report to her college. At Essayshark, customers’ information is more than secure. The dashboard provides adequate security to keep both writers and customers safe and often anonymous.
Some “experts” aren’t experts at all!
The bidding process is often ugly. Writers make claims that cannot be substantiated, like being an industry expert, having a PhD, having done the same kind of work multiple times, offering an A+ material etc. It often seems like they are allowed to say just anything to win customers. You might be disappointed if you select a writer because he stated in his bidding message that he has a PhD in your field. I would advise you to instead look for customized messages. Statements that relate to your specific order. I firmly believe that writers who take their time to write customized messages are more dedicated than those who use general messages and phrases. They are also likely to provide top-notch papers.
Mobile-friendly interface
I have always relied on my laptop or iPad to navigate the internet because some websites are too heavy, bulky, and crowded for smartphone use. Essayshark has been designed and optimized for smartphone use, making it easier for me to place orders on my smartphone. The convenience is worth noting.
My overall rating of the site is 7.5/10.
